DCS is seeking a Local Office Attorney (LOA) for Region 16, including Gibson, Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Knox, and Pike counties. The LOA provides legal advice and legal services to Central Office, county offices and/or DCS staff for juvenile law matters relating to child welfare, child support, and personnel matters. The LOA also represents and assists the DCS in administrative and court matters. The LOA will be responsible for representing the State in Child In Need of Services (CHINS) cases, Termination of Parental Rights (TPR), adoptions, foster care licensing actions, and other general legal issues relating to the safety of children.  This individual will work closely with the client to prepare for court hearings and may serve as legal counsel for internal employment issues. The minimum salary for this classification is $61,022. Additional compensation is available, commensurate with years as a practicing attorney.
