The Vanderburgh Superior Court is looking to fill a vacancy for an Administrative Assistant III in late June of 2024.

Administrative Assistant III serves as the assistant to the Vanderburgh Superior Court Administrator. Administrative Assistant III’s responsibilities are guided by policies, and the priorities are established by the Court Administrator.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to assisting the Court Administrator in the following: preparing weekly courtroom schedules and maintaining courtroom schedules on a daily basis; preparing annual judicial and magistrate rotation schedules and on-call lists; preparing weekly schedules for magistrates, senior judges and judges pro tempore to ensure courtroom coverage and obtaining additional judicial coverage during trials, judicial absences and other scheduling conflicts; reassigning conflict cases within the County and District; managing mental health commitment petitions and scheduling courtroom, video remote and on-site hearings at facilities; developing and administering the annual budget; maintaining ledgers and accounts of the Court; processing bills and vendor claims; maintaining inventory and ordering supplies; preparing bi-weekly payroll and reimbursements; maintaining personnel records in conjunction with the Auditor’s Office; collecting bi-weekly data and overseeing the Court’s compliance with the Federal Title IV-D program; scheduling and coordinating the Court’s Language Access Program (interpreters for language, vision and/or hearing challenges); communicating with the County Council and County Commissioners; answering inquiries and assisting in responses to public information requests; investigating questions and complaints and resolving any potential issues with Superior Court operations; and all other duties as assigned.

Candidates for this position must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Candidates must also have an understanding of budgeting and experience with accounting or bookkeeping. Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and be motivated to learn Court procedures and systems. Candidates should be able to multi-task and work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced, professional work environment with varying deadlines and with a variety of individuals.

Candidates for Administrative Assistant III must have a High School Diploma or GED. Some college coursework is preferred.

The Vanderburgh County Public Defender Agency in Evansville, Indiana has an opening for a full-time attorney to handle felony cases filed in Circuit and Superior courts.
